Biological life and eternal life.
My comments to the video “What is life? Five great ideas in Biology” on “World Science Festival” and to the video “Does angles and demons exist?” on “Closer to Truth”.
Randomness and meaningful goal.
The seven “light-days” in the creation history are long periods of time, many days measured in “earth-days”. The first six “light-days” goes like this, God said something, it happened and then he saw it was good. So it seems like there might be uncertainty in how it would turn out to be, but he looked after it to assure it was good before he created something new the next day, until he rested the seventh day. This fits well to the quantum mechanical probability and uncertainty principle, it seems to be as fundamental that so it is to God also, still he has full control.
He left the creation just to watch it. In a similar way we can watch it and learn to understand how it functions and so we do in real sciences. Darwin studied finches on Galapagos islands and found something fundamental about nature, the evolution theory. The Austrian monk Johan Gregor Mendel had learnt mathematics and used it to study pea flower systematically and found that the genetic crossing was according to purely mathematical probability. He is regarded as the founder of modern genetics (1866) even though this was long the genetic material, DNA, was found (Watson and Crick, Nobel-price 1962).
Then it seems like evolution has no meaningful goal. But what about sexual selection? In many animal species the male-animals fight to find out who is the strongest and gets the right to mate with the female-animals. But for most of the birds the competition is first of all by male birds singing and showing the colours in his plumage. The male paradise birds also danse and hoards to attract the females. In this way they develop their typical traits, even though it does not seem to be of any practical advantage.
But the humans most typical trait, the symbolic thinking by use of the language and mathematics is in the cerebellum and is not visible outside. We develop it by using it, by thinking and talking, so this is important for a man when he wants to find a wife and for a woman when she wats to find a husband. If we just let it function like that, it is likely that this trait will develop to become better over many generations, quite naturally we develop our most typical human trait.
Moral, struggle for life and faith in God.
Mathematics and science are fundamental for our civilization. I’ll compare it with the discussion in Job’s book. He was a rich and righteous man living in a civilized society. But he was ruined by criminals and by nature disaster and became very sick. His tree friends argued that this should not happen to a righteous man. But here we must understand the difference between what is likely in a civilized society and what might happen in nature, in wild life, when animals and humans have decided to do something. The discussion is both moral philosophy and nature philosophy. Job defended himself well in the discussion, but then there was a third younger man who said he accused God as if he was better or more righteous than him. Job admitted that he was right in that. Then God answered Job and that is the interesting conclusion, he tells about the natural struggle for life and the fight for survival, but he is perfect and he is the strongest after all.
We can compare this with what happened to Jesus. He suffered and died instead of us. But he was righteous and God is perfect and righteous and rose Jesus from the dead and showed that Jesus by the glorious Spirit is his mighty Son. He is also perfect and the spirit and life he gives us from heaven is perfect, he gives life to our souls and it is eternal
Consciousness and Christian revival.
When an animal is borne and starts to breathe, it gets enough oxygen to the brain, that it becomes conscious. That’s how it is for humans also, in this way the respiratory system and the circulation system is fundamental to the central nerve system. The central part of our brain regulates the respiratory system and the circulation system, without us being conscious of it, so it is mutual then. But our conscious is in the cerebrum.
This is used symbolically in Genesis2, where it is said that God created the man from soil and breathed the spirit of life into his nostrils, so that he became a living soul. God is Spirit and in this way he woke up Adam to live in society with him, Adam became conscious of it and experienced that God did his work in his life.
The Bible tells us search him with all our heart, love him with all our heart and believe in him with all our heart and to know him by heart, it is fundamental to our thinking like the circulation system is fundamental to our brain activity. Apostle John said that God is love and he showed us his love when he let his only Son die instead of us. He loved us first, that’s why we love.
1.John.4, 7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.
10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
13 This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit.
14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.
15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God.
16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.
17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus.
18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
19 We love because he first loved us.
It is just to trust in God like a small child that trusts its parents. It is in principle that easy and that means also that it is fundamental. Many conclude that it is stupid, meaning that it is wrong, but that is a mistake. I’ll compare it with the axioms in mathematical analysis, like the existence of 0 and 1. It is easy to understand, but that does not mean that it is stupid and wrong. Instead we return to it and use it. Similarly we need to return to the spring of living water and drink of it.
The most advanced mammals and children of God.
Humans are the most advanced mammals with most care for their children. The most special and typical human trait is the symbolic thinking in the language and in mathematics. And that’s why we need God’s Word in the Bible, there is a lot of symbolic speech. It tells that God’s people (Israel) was his wife, so that their children should be God’s children (Ezekiel 23, Hosea.2). God created humans in his image, so by faith in him our understanding of the typical human trait becomes fundamental. Everyone who received Christ he gave right to become children of God, borne by his Spirit and what is borne by the Spirit is spirit. Then this is for gentiles also. Christ’s Church is his bride and his wife, by the love of God, it is created by him and borne by him.
By faith in Christ I got the Holy Spirit, so this lovely relationship between Christ and his wife is borne in me by the Holy Spirit. It is just by receiving in faith, in this way I can say that to me it concerns the lovely relationship between men and women in general. It is especially important for a man when he wants to get a wife and for a woman when she wants to get a husband.
By faith in God we understand and get a meaningful life.
The first Greek nature philosophers got the idea that nature was understandable and they talked about God in a philosophical way, like Israel’s God, the idea surely came from Israel. For God’s plan with them was to make his name known. By trusting we understand that God created everything with his Word, so that what is visible was made from what is invisible. That’s why nature is understandable. We created us in his image, that’s why we are able to understand. By this understanding we have got real sciences. It also gives us an understanding of how is life or how should it better be, so that we may find meaning in life.
The promise to Abraham is fulfilled in Christ; blessing to all people.
God said to Abraham that he would give him a son and give him descendants as many as the stars. Abraham believed it and God counted it as righteousness (Genesis.15,1-6). God made a covenant with him about this.
Genesis.17,1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless,
2 that I may make my covenant between me and you, and may multiply you greatly.”
3 Then Abram fell on his face. And God said to him,
4 “Behold, my covenant is with you, and you shall be the father of a multitude of nations.
5 No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham, for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations.
6 I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make you into nations, and kings shall come from you.
7 And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you.
8 And I will give to you and to your offspring after you the land of your sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession, and I will be their God.”
9 And God said to Abraham, “As for you, you shall keep my covenant, you and your offspring after you throughout their generations.
10 This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your offspring after you: Every male among you shall be circumcised.
11 You shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and you.
12 He who is eight days old among you shall be circumcised. Every male throughout your generations, whether born in your house or bought with your money from any foreigner who is not of your offspring,
13 both he who is born in your house and he who is bought with your money, shall surely be circumcised. So shall my covenant be in your flesh an everlasting covenant.
14 Any uncircumcised male who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin shall be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant.”
The circumcision on the flesh should be a sign of the covenant. It makes it clear that it concerns the body made of soil with it’s biological life. How? God promised Abraham that through him every peoples should be blessed and this promise is fulfilled by the gospel of Christ. By believing
Abraham had not got any children with her wife, Sara, but after she was far too old for it, she gave birth to Isak, the promised son came as God’s wonder. God told him to sacrifice Isak to him and Abraham showed he was willing to do so, in this way he showed that he believed God could wake him up from the dead. But then he could offer a ram instead of him.
This is a role model for how God sent his only Son, Christ to our world, he was born by a virgin, so that was also a God’s wonder.
God said to Jacob (his decendents) that he had formed him in his mother’s womb and he blessed him, by giving him his Spirit, so they should regard themselves as God’s property (Isaiah.44,1-5).
God argued that he is the only God and this argumentation is still relevant (Isaiah.44,6-20).
The Persian king Cyrus would let them go home, it came as a freeing salvation from God. This serves as a model role for the gospel of Christ. Again he said that he had created Jacob in his mother’s womb (Isaiah.44,21-28).
Iasiah,44.1 “But now hear, O Jacob my servant, Israel whom I have chosen!
2 Thus says the LORD who made you, who formed you from the womb and will help you: Fear not, O Jacob my servant, Jeshurun whom I have chosen.
3 For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.
4 They shall spring up among the grass like willows by flowing streams.
5 This one will say, ‘I am the LORD’s,’ another will call on the name of Jacob, and another will write on his hand, ‘The LORD’s,’ and name himself by the name of Israel.”
6 Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: “I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god.
7 Who is like me? Let him proclaim it. Let him declare and set it before me, since I appointed an ancient people. Let them declare what is to come, and what will happen.
8 Fear not, nor be afraid; have I not told you from of old and declared it? And you are my witnesses! Is there a God besides me? There is no Rock; I know not any.”
9 All who fashion idols are nothing, and the things they delight in do not profit. Their witnesses neither see nor know, that they may be put to shame.
10 Who fashions a god or casts an idol that is profitable for nothing?
11 Behold, all his companions shall be put to shame, and the craftsmen are only human. Let them all assemble, let them stand forth. They shall be terrified; they shall be put to shame together.
12 The ironsmith takes a cutting tool and works it over the coals. He fashions it with hammers and works it with his strong arm. He becomes hungry, and his strength fails; he drinks no water and is faint.
13 The carpenter stretches a line; he marks it out with a pencil. He shapes it with planes and marks it with a compass. He shapes it into the figure of a man, with the beauty of a man, to dwell in a house.
14 He cuts down cedars, or he chooses a cypress tree or an oak and lets it grow strong among the trees of the forest. He plants a cedar and the rain nourishes it.
15 Then it becomes fuel for a man. He takes a part of it and warms himself; he kindles a fire and bakes bread. Also he makes a god and worships it; he makes it an idol and falls down before it.
16 Half of it he burns in the fire. Over the half he eats meat; he roasts it and is satisfied. Also he warms himself and says, “Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire!”
17 And the rest of it he makes into a god, his idol, and falls down to it and worships it. He prays to it and says, “Deliver me, for you are my god!”
18 They know not, nor do they discern, for he has shut their eyes, so that they cannot see, and their hearts, so that they cannot understand.
19 No one considers, nor is there knowledge or discernment to say, “Half of it I burned in the fire; I also baked bread on its coals; I roasted meat and have eaten. And shall I make the rest of it an abomination? Shall I fall down before a block of wood?”
20 He feeds on ashes; a deluded heart has led him astray, and he cannot deliver himself or say, “Is there not a lie in my right hand?”
21 Remember these things, O Jacob, and Israel, for you are my servant; I formed you; you are my servant; O Israel, you will not be forgotten by me.
22 I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud and your sins like mist; return to me, for I have redeemed you.
23 Sing, O heavens, for the LORD has done it; shout, O depths of the earth; break forth into singing, O mountains, O forest, and every tree in it! For the LORD has redeemed Jacob, and will be glorified in Israel.
24 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, who formed you from the womb: “I am the LORD, who made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself,
25 who frustrates the signs of liars and makes fools of diviners, who turns wise men back and makes their knowledge foolish,
26 who confirms the word of his servant and fulfills the counsel of his messengers, who says of Jerusalem, ‘She shall be inhabited,’ and of the cities of Judah, ‘They shall be built, and I will raise up their ruins’;
27 who says to the deep, ‘Be dry; I will dry up your rivers’;
28 who says of Cyrus, ‘He is my shepherd, and he shall fulfill all my purpose’; saying of Jerusalem, ‘She shall be built,’ and of the temple, ‘Your foundation shall be laid.'”
Jesus blessed the small children and said to his disciples that they should let them come to him, for the kingdom of heaven belong to such. So they must repent and become like children to come into it.
Matt.19, 13 Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people,
14 but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”
15 And he laid his hands on them and went away.
Matt.18. 1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
2 And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them
3 and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
4 Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5 “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me,
6 but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.
7 “Woe to the world for temptations to sin!For it is necessary that temptations come, but woe to the one by whom the temptation comes!
8 And if your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life crippled or lame than with two hands or two feet to be thrown into the eternal fire.
9 And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into the hell of fire.
The blessing means to come into the kingdom of heaven and this becomes most fundamental in our lives, like the creation. Everyone who received Jesus he gave right to become children of God, borne by the Holy Spirit and what is borne by the Spirit, is spirit (John.1,12-13 & John.3,1-21).
And apostle Paul teaches us to let the Spirit rule in our deadly bodies (Rom.8,1-17).
Rom.8,1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.
3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,
4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
God created the man of soil and blew the spirit of life into his nostrils, so that he became a living soul (Genesis.2,7). The law of the spirit of life (Rom.8,2) is like this, for God is still the same.
God’s people acknowledged again and again that they needed to repent to God in humbleness; they needed that he remembered that they were dust. He answered that he lived in the heavens and among the humble, to revive them and that revival is for eternity (Psalm.103,14 Isaiah 57,15). The gospel of Christ is like this and it is for all the peoples and nations.
Psalm103, 1 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits,
3 who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
5 who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
6 The LORD works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.
7 He made known his ways to Moses, his acts to the people of Israel.
8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
9 He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever.
10 He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
13 As a father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shows compassion to those who fear him.
14 For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are like grass; he flourishes like a flower of the field;
16 for the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place knows it no more.
17 But the steadfast love of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children,
18 to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments.
19 The LORD has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.
20 Bless the LORD, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice of his word!
21 Bless the LORD, all his hosts, his ministers, who do his will!
22 Bless the LORD, all his works, in all places of his dominion. Bless the LORD, O my soul!
Isaiah.57,14 And it shall be said, “Build up, build up, prepare the way, remove every obstruction from my people’s way.”
15 For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite.
Satan’s methods are fundamental accusations and temptations, but God’s Word is more fundamental.
In the Bible a people is often talked about as one man and sometimes as a woman and this is how I understand the story of Adam and Eve also (Genesis2), but they represented all mankind toward God. The typical human trait is the soul, but they also have more animal-like traits and this is also shown in the people and the society. But God created humans in his image and by searching him we develop our typical human traits, so this is the point with the offerings in the Old covenant.
When the Israelis had returned to their country and started to rebuild Jerusalem and the temple, their neighbours tried to stop them by sending a letter to the king of Persia, where they accused this city for being rebellious and wicked (Ezra.4,12). In this way they managed to stop the work for a while.
An angel showed prophet Zechariah that the high priest Joshua was standing before the angel of the Lord and Satan standing at his right side to accuse him (Zechariah.3,1…). Else the people didn’t know that, but it gives a good explanation of what happened, it was like an invisible rationality to them, that they were not aware of and so is the rest of the vision. The angel told Joshua that he had taken away his sin, on one day he would remove the sin of this land, he should look forward to God’s servant “Branch” coming. That is Christ, God’s lamb that was slaughtered as a sacrifice for our sins.
Similarly Satan accused Job for God, Job and his friends didn’t know that. The accidents that happened to Job was just strange to them.
How could he accuse humans for God without they knowing it an being able to defend themselves in that court? I think it is because the dinosaurs ruled the world for some hundred millions years, long before there were humans on earth.
He continued like that, accusing humans for God, without they knowing it and understanding it. But it resulted in humans accusing humans. Especially accusing Christians. But they shall win over him in the name of Jesus Christ (Revelation.12,10-11).
Revelation.12, 7 Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back,
8 but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven.
9 And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world–he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.
11 And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.
12 Therefore, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!”
The priests in the Church speaks warmly about Jesus blessing the children, let the children come to him, because the kingdom of heaven belong to such. We must repent and become like them to come into it. Then they make an appointment with parents that their child shall be taught in the Christian faith and then he baptize the child to the Fader, Son and Holy Spirit. In this way he puts himself in the position of teaching what is and should be most fundamental in life. In this way he comes in a sovereign position toward the child and continues in that way as it grows. Is that OK? Well, the Christian faith comes from the preaching and the preaching comes from the words of Christ. He is the originator of the faith and he will complete it. Apostle Paul said that the Church was God’s farmland and building, by preaching the gospel of Christ he had laid the foundation of it, somebody else builds further on it, with jewels, gold, silver, wood and gras, but must look after how he does it, the fire will test it. Then it is important to build with something that does not burn.
So it is important to cooperate with God, so that he makes something that lasts for ever, by saving people (1.Corint.3). This is also about our personal lives, it is important for us to cooperate with God in building our own lives, for only he can create something that lasts for ever. Everyone needs to learn something else in addition to the Bible and it is important for us that it is valuable and that it lasts. We become specialized in different subjects and it is clear that the priest can not keep that sovereign position over our thinking. The priest gets in such a position only by keeping to his subject, preaching what is written in the Bible. But other people can also read it and preach it, in that way also the priest gets less sovereign. But the point in the teaching is not that the priest is sovereign, but that Christ is. By believing that God rose Christ from the dead we become righteous for God and by acknowledging that he is Lord, we get saved.
Prophesy of the rebellion.
Jesus chose Paul as apostle instead of Judas, to preach his gospel and that is most fundamental. How could he? Because Christ chose him to it and enabled him to it, by baptizing him with the Holy Spirit (John.1,33 & 1.Corint.12,12-14). If somebody tries to take over, without being enabled to it that way, he tries to capture the position of teaching what is most fundamental, but is not able to it.
Paul said that some preached the gospel primarily to earn money by it, but it still served Christ’s sake. But the he prophesied that there would come “savage wolfs” in among them and men would arise among them that distort the truth.
Acts.20, 28 Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.
29 I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock;
30 and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them.
31 Therefore be alert, remembering that for three years I did not cease night or day to admonish everyone with tears.
32 And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
He also prophesied that someone should be removed so that the Lawless one could take over. It is surely first of all himself who will be removed, then it may be anyone else who preaches the gospel like he did (2.Thess.2,7).
2.Thess.2, 1 Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers,
2 not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come.
3 Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction,
4 who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.
5 Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things?
6 And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time.
7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way.
8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming.
9 The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders,
10 and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.
11 Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false,
12 in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
13 But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the first fruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.
14 To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter.
16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,
17 comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.
The Lawless one is like the foolish shepherd of the flock to be slaughtered by the sheep traders, and who sold Jesus for 30 silver coins, Zechariah.11,4-17. See also Daniel.11,21… Revelation.11, (Zechariah.4).
God lives in the high and holy and with the humble, to revive their heart and spirit.
The Bible talks about eternal life, that is more fundamental than biological life.
God lives in the high and holy place and with the humble, to revive them.
Isaiah.57, 14 And it shall be said, “Build up, build up, prepare the way, remove every obstruction from my people’s way.”
15 For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite.
16 For I will not contend forever, nor will I always be angry; for the spirit would grow faint before me, and the breath of life that I made.
Jesus came to our world and they saw the glory he had from his heavenly Father, full of mercy and truth (John.1,14). He knew he was going to be killed, but he would not leave his people as Fatherless children, he would send them the Holy Spirit from heaven. They should just believe in him, love him and love each others, then he would reveal himself for them.
John.6, 29 Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”
John.14, 15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever,
17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.
18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
19 Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.
20 In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.
21 Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.”
22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?”
23 Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
Jesus gives life to our souls, so that we come into a personal relation to him and our heavenly Father, as his children.
John.10,1 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber.
2 But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
3 To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.
5 A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.”
By receiving Christ we become borne on new, by the Holy Spirit. God cares for us as his children by giving us the Holy Spirit.
My comments to the video “Do angles and demons exist?”
Angel and/or human?
The messianic Hebrew David H. Stern translated the whole Bible especially for Hebrews: “Complete J*** Bible (CJB). (It is strange that I can’t use the traditional word here so I just fill in “*” and write Hebrews instead of it. I think those who decide this must be sick in their head, it reminds us of how it was in Germany under the second world war, when they diden’t want to know about this people). He tried as best as he could to translate it from the original language, but specially religious words he wrote in Hebrew in the English text. But he just uses the English word angle and that simply means messenger. This word is used about people who believe in God also, but then we must understand that it is the spirit God has given us. Everyone who received Christ he gave right to become children of God, borne by the Holy Spirit and what is borne by the Spirit is spirit. This we experience in our daily life, so it is not strange to us any longer. In John’s Revelation 3-4 there are letters to the Angels of the seven Churches. So it is to their spirit, especially to the leaders, the leader or priest. God cares about those who believe in him, like Abraham, then his angels also cares for them. The Holy Spirit reveals Christ for us as our saviour and Lord, then we must turn to him and look at him (Hebrews.3,1 12,2), for he is perfect and he makes us perfect with his offer. To get to experience what is written in Hebrews.1, 12,22-29 is just wonderful and glorious.
God’s Spirit and God’s angel.
Jesus said God would give us what the body need, like a Father cares for his children and argued that it is quite natural, so search first God’s kingdom and his righteousness and you will get this in addition. Then it seems like God’s kingdom comes in addition to the physical world we experience, like metacognition, so it comes in addition to nature science, like nature philosophy and metaphysics. Then it is important to remember the point that God cares for us as his children and for his creation. Jesus said that we must be borne by the Holy Spirit to see God’s kingdom and to come into it (John.3,5…). He blessed the children and said the kingdom of heaven belong to such ones (Matt.19,13-15), so we must repent and become like them to come into it.
Matt.18. 1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” 2 And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them 3 and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, 6 but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea. 10 “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven. 12 What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? 13 And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray. 14 So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.
So by God’s mercy we get a “reset” and a “restart”, since Jesus died instead of us and rose from the dead, this is very fundamental, so the salvation is like the creation.
By faith in Christ we get the Holy Spirit of mere grace.
By faith in Christ we get the Holy Spirit of mere grace, without doing anything for it. We become borne by the Spirit and become “socialised” into the kingdom of heaven. This is not a slave-society, but it is childhood.
Galatians.3, 5 So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?
6 So also Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”
7 Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham.
8 Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.”
9 So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.
Rom.8, 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it.
13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.
14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.
15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.
17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
When we live in the childhood at our Father’s house we experience that he loves us and cares for us and teaches us as his children, we can come to him with all our needs and he answers us. Jesus is his Word and the Holy Spirit reveals him for us.
The idols are fraud.
Jeremiah 10,1 Hear what the LORD says to you, people of Israel.
2 This is what the LORD says: “Do not learn the ways of the nations or be terrified by signs in the heavens, though the nations are terrified by them.
3 For the practices of the peoples are worthless; they cut a tree out of the forest, and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel.
4 They adorn it with silver and gold; they fasten it with hammer and nails so it will not totter.
5 Like a scarecrow in a cucumber field, their idols cannot speak; they must be carried because they cannot walk. Do not fear them; they can do no harm nor can they do any good.”
6 No one is like you, LORD; you are great, and your name is mighty in power.
7 Who should not fear you, King of the nations? This is your due. Among all the wise leaders of the nations and in all their kingdoms, there is no one like you.
8 They are all senseless and foolish; they are taught by worthless wooden idols.
9 Hammered silver is brought from Tarshish and gold from Uphaz. What the craftsman and goldsmith have made is then dressed in blue and purple— all made by skilled workers.
10 But the LORD is the true God; he is the living God, the eternal King. When he is angry, the earth trembles; the nations cannot endure his wrath.
11 “Tell them this: ‘These gods, who did not make the heavens and the earth, will perish from the earth and from under the heavens.’ ”
12 But God made the earth by his power; he founded the world by his wisdom and stretched out the heavens by his understanding.
13 When he thunders, the waters in the heavens roar; he makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth. He sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses.
14 Everyone is senseless and without knowledge; every goldsmith is shamed by his idols. The images he makes are a fraud; they have no breath in them.
15 They are worthless, the objects of mockery; when their judgment comes, they will perish.
16 He who is the Portion of Jacob is not like these, for he is the Maker of all things, including Israel, the people of his inheritance— the LORD Almighty is his name.
The demand for a sign may be a temptation.
Matt.4, 1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.
3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple.
6 “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: “ ‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’ ”
7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”
8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.
9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”
10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’”
11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.
I and many others got the Holy Spirit by faith in Christ. God is Spirit and we are borne by the Spirit. It reveals God’s Word for us, it is Jesus and he talks to us. It does wanders among us, like healing from sickness. God loves us as his children and cares for us, he answers my praying and our praying. This is in and by the Holy Spirit.
As long as you reject it and turn to any other god with our wishes and conclude that there was no help in it, it is not relevant. You may tell about yourself and your gods and I tell about myself and my God. But if you tell about me and my God that way, it is to tell lies about my God, about me and others who believe in him. In the old testament the gods made of sticks and stones are called “the Lie” and it functions just like that, to tell lies about God and humans. Contrary to that Jesus is the truth that frees us from the slavery under Idols and sin.
David was a shepherd boy who was king of Israel. He praised God for rescuing him from the snare of the bird catcher. He rescued and defended the single person this way. This became his policy then and under him Israel became a great power.
Psalms.91.1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
3 Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
Later Israel turned away from the Lord and he asked them what wrong they found with him.
Jeremiah.2, 5 This is what the LORD says: “What fault did your ancestors find in me, that they strayed so far from me? They followed worthless idols and became worthless themselves.
So he put himself in such a situation as the single person who was betrayed and suffered in-justice.
Isaiah.59, 14 So justice is driven back, and righteousness stands at a distance; truth has stumbled in the streets, honesty cannot enter.
15 Truth is nowhere to be found, and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey. The LORD looked and was displeased that there was no justice.
16 He saw that there was no one, he was appalled that there was no one to intervene; so his own arm achieved salvation for him, and his own righteousness sustained him.
This is a prophesy of Jesus being trapped in Gethsemane. He knew it in advance and told his disciples to be awake and pray to make sure that they do not fall in temptation. This serves as a reminding for us to stay awake so that we don’t get trapped. How? By remembering that he died instead of us, to give us life.
Apostle Paul said that the letter (of the law) kills, but the Spirit makes alive (2.Corint.3,6). How could he say so when the promise was that if you obey the law, you shall live? A good explanation is the warning that you shall not eat of the tree that gives knowledge of good and evil, else you shall die. But Abraham became righteous by faith and the righteous shall live by faith (Habakkuk.2,4 Rom.1,17). Jesus is the bread that came down from heaven to give the world life, so we live by eating it. The word he has spoken to us is spirit and life (John.6,63).
The soul-trapping socialization project.
Imagine a man and her wife with their newly borne son. Maybe he cries a little and they understand it as a cry for care and so they do. When it starts talking a little, they talk with it, trying to understand what it says and to teach it to talk. So this is a very good democracy and so is the childhood God gives us. They will not say you talk nonsense, what’s the matter with you? You are only talking nonsense, so you’d better shut up. Imagine there came a python into their house and they started to keep it as a pet, not knowing it could be a danger to their son. But one day they didn’t find him and wondered where he might have gone. The python looked pregnant and they became exited, that was quick, it will be exiting to see if it will give birth to a male or female. Hopefully parents are not that stupid. But in the Middle age the catholic church concluded that Jesus is so strict, that ordinary people can not talk to him directly, pray to him and ask him for anything, so the pope must be intermediary between him and them. They could pray to him and the priests and the catholic saints, that they should prey for them. But the correct explanation for this is that the serpent seduced the woman and the church, so it was the knowledge of good and eval that they got by eating of the forbidden fruit, that was such a strict moral, as if they could rule like god with it. But it gave them bad consciousness, so that they hided from God. It killed their spiritual life in society with God, who is Spirit, it killed their souls. In this way childhood is replaced by slavery, the indulgence trade was a form of slave-trade. So the point in that the priests should talk and pray for them turned out to be like this, that they got what they wanted instead of them. But the democracy in the childhood at God’s house in not like this. Christ is the intermediary between God and humans, he represents us for our heavenly Father, he prays for us. Priests may serve him, if they don’t, they may try to represent us in a different way, but then this democracy doesn’t function correctly. Then it may get political consequences, that the politicians no longer represent us correctly, it is false, they may pretend to do so, but don’t. So both the Church and the politics are corrupted. The socialization into Churches functions like soul-trap and so do socialization into schools, high-schools, universities and politics. Social life has become a soul-trapping project. Social life die. How does it end? And then they ask if we have a soul? May be they should better ask what kills it and what lets it live? But Christ is the same and his gospel is the same. If anyone is soul-trapped, so that your soul is dying, like a bird in the fowler’s snare, it’s just to turn to him and call upon his name and he will give life to your soul and free you from the snare.
Believe in Christ, remember him by remembering that he died instead of us.
Apostle John said that Jesus is God’s Word, it became flesh and lived among us (John.1,1…), he talked about it as what they saw with their eyes and touched with their hands.
1. 1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.
2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.
3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
4 We write this to make our joy complete.
Jesus said he was the bread that came down from heaven to give the world life, so it is just for us to believe in him and receive him, it is the Spirit that makes alive, the word he has spoken to us is spirit and life (Joh.6,28….).
He introduced the communion, the point was that they should remember him. Yes, to believe in him is to remember him.
Luk.22, 15 And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.
16 For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.”
17 After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you.
18 For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
None of us met him when he walked on earth, how can we remember him? He said he would send us the Holy Spirit and it will remind us of his word and reveal it for us, he gives us spirit and life and in this way we get to know him and in this way we shall remember him.
Joh.14, 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”
23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.
God reveals his salvation for us in Christ, it is symbolized in baptism, it is a pledge of clear conscience toward God, by the resurrection of Christ.
1.Pet.3, 18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.
19 After being made alive, he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits—
20 to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water,
21 and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
22 who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand—with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.
Satan’s method is fundamental accusation against humans.
Apostle Peter got a vision where he saw all kinds of animals and it was said to him that he should slaughter and eat. But he would not, because there were animals they were not allowed to eat according to the law of Moses. Then it was said to him that he should not call anything unclean that God has made clean. This was used symbolically to tell him that he should preach the gospel for the gentiles.
When the Israelis had returned to their country and started to rebuild Jerusalem and the temple, their neighbors tried to stop them by sending a letter to the king of Persia, where they accused this city for being rebellious and wicked (Ezra.4,12).
How could he accuse humans for God without they knowing it and being able to defend themselves in that court? I think it is because the dinosaurs ruled the world for more than hundred millions years. They became extinct 65 million years million years ago, long before there were humans on earth.
The serpent/dragon continued accusing humans for God, without they knowing it and understanding it, but it resulted in humans accusing humans. So it seems to be a fundamental way of thinking then. This we still see in the society in our time, especially in the MSM. But the gospel of Christ tells us what is most fundamental. So by preaching the gospel we shall win over him (Revelation.12,10-11).
Revelation.12, 7 Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, 8 but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven.
Preaching the gospel is most fundamental.
Apostle Paul’s gospel or corruption and lawlessness.
29 I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock;
